Director of Marketing & Communications

The Nebraska State Historical Society (NSHS) is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications to build the organization's external marketing and internal communications to shape the future of the organization as part of a dynamic leadership team. 

Ideal candidates will be energetic and innovative, with the ability to be a marketing director capable of leading the rebranding the organization, improving external and internal communications, and helping NSHS become an audience-centered organization. The position reports to the Director/CEO and will be part of the leadership team. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing strategy for the organization.

The director will supervise a team of three and will have access to resources to conduct audience research and development and deployment of key brand campaign assets. The NSHS has a director committed to optimized communications, an energized board, and a strong commitment to understanding our audiences and how we can best be relevant to current interests across the state and across demographics.

The Nebraska State Historical Society is an educational institution with a museum, a library and research center, conservation facility, seven historic sites, and the state historic preservation office. The Historical Society preserves and interprets our state's past, contributes to the education of its citizens, and uses the tools of history to shape a better future for all Nebraskans. 

Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, public relations or related field. At least three years' of increasingly responsible experience in developing, planning, and managing marketing, advertising and communication. Experience in budgeting, planning, and supervision of staff is also expected.

This is a full time exempt position with normal state of Nebraska benefits.
Salary: $24.598 - $25.828 an hour plus normal state of Nebraska health benefits, vacation and sick leave and retirement plan. 
Some travel may be required.
